Date Night Under The Stars At West Wind Drive-In Theater
When Andy and I got a chance to sneak out for a date night, we decided to do something different and opted for a drive-in movie night. Ever since moving to the US, it has been on my wish list of things to do. It is a little slice of Americana I had yet to experience.
I was excited to learn that West Wind Drive-In Theater was so close to where we live. So we looked up show times and picked our desired movie. For those of you who might not know – a drive in is an outdoor movie experience often set on a grassy or unpaved area with gigantic white movie screens. The sound is delivered through a FM station in your car. So a good audio sound system really adds to the experience.
The Sacramento location, offers a great area to watch the sunset, so come a little early and enjoy the colorful California sky. We spent an hour before the movies catching up under the sky, being silly, playing the arcade games and watching the beautiful sunset.
My husband has fond memories of visiting the drive-in, so it was extra special to relive this experience with him. It is everything I imagined it would be and more.
Pop culture highlighted the love of the drive-ins for decades. Now with new technology or activities to choose from the drive-in can be overlooked. I highly recommend a change of scenery next time you decide to do a movie night. Think outside the movie box and look up the showtimes at West Wind Drive-In. Go relive the nostalgic experience. West Wind’s updated setting with high-end screens and plenty of other attractions like an arcade and an outdoor playground.
