There are so many influential and important cities in the fashion world today. From Paris, to New York to Milan, to Moscow you can travel from continent to continent visiting remarkable fashion houses.
Style is most defiantly a global language, but it does not mean all places are equal when it comes to fashion importance. Moscow has risen in prominence in the international fashion world as a destination location, and earns a spot at the top of my list. Today I am excited to share why I think you need to make Moscow your next fashion destination.
After Paris wraps up its last Fashion Week show, the action moves to Moscow’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week March 11-16. Russian designers use fashion as a vehicle to reflect, prod, probe and celebrate their country. The results are electrifying. Some of the noteworthy ones that slay the streets of Moscow and the MBFW runways are Gosha Rubchinskiy and the OUTLAW.
The OUTLAW is one of my favorites. Its edgy style with its asymmetrical lines sets the pace with mix of styles and textures. It certainly speaks to my own edgy leanings. You should defiantly keep these designers on your radar.
Do not let the weather in March scare you away. The cold temperatures are no threat to the Russian fashionistas. Rather it is as a great time to show off the art of layering and strut your fancy furs.
Beyond fashion, another reason to put Moscow on your fashion map is the cultural experience provided by Russia’s capitol. Moscow holds a dear place in my heart and fashion influence as it is my hometown! So, whether it is the historic architecture, the marbled subway stations, or the exquisite dinning scene like the Pushkin Cafe, you are sure to fall in love with this city and its fashion scene.
