How to wear a Little Black Dress with an Edge
Dresses are my go-to these days. You can find me in a dress almost any day of the week, at any time of the day or night. I find it is the perfect versatile item you can style to look both professional and classy, yet when worn with the right accessories becomes casual and edgy.
The little black dress fills the bill for both occasions. On an elegant night out, you will see me pairing my dresses with classy heels and an evening clutch. My everyday edgy side steers me mainly towards platforms, booties and sneakers. The short haircut, funky accessories, and a statement bag and a true Oliamoda look is complete.
To keep a simple shift dress look exciting choose a black dress like this one with some stand out embellishment. The contrast of white embroidery of classic shapes on the front and the textured material on the back gives it an edge. Its shift cut drapes just perfectly and is extremely comfortable.
You want your makeup to stand out when wearing a one-colored dress. Be playful. I had fun pairing the graphic red lip earrings with my own bright red lips.
Knowing I had a big day of walking and standing ahead of me, I chose to set off this outfit with chunky black pointy booties. They are a recent gift from Europe, right on style. The tote by Ralph Lauren is perfect for those like me who carry around more then they need.
I did not feel boring in this little black dress a bit. It felt fun and risqué in a way.
