4 Emerging Designers from NYFW To Watch Now

While all fashion eyes are on Milan now as the craze and the dust of NYFW settles. It is a great time to reflect on the NYFW standouts. Even though the big-name shows are always the ones who steel the thunder, the Big Apple’s Fashion Week is known to do one thing exceptionally well; foster new emerging talent. The talent that ultimately shapes what the future of fashion might look like for the decade to come. Whether it is a body positive approach to model casting, innovative use of fabrics or styling techniques these young visionaries have something unique to say and we better take note.

1. Christian Cowan

Christian Cowan might be the youngest designer to show at NYFW, yet he is the one with the biggest ambitions. Diversity is a big focus of his brand. Since debuting his brand in the US in 2016 he has dressed everyone from drag queens, to celebrities, even Lady Gaga.  His solidarity as a designer keeps him in a league of his own. The collection he debuted had an extravagant mix of textures like feathers and metal that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

2. Kim Shui

This Central Saint Martins trained designer is known for her intrinsically sexy silhouettes. For the FW19 presentation, Kim set her mind to create a daring collection. Colorful logo tights, snakeskin prints and tie dies, were dominating the walkway for her new collection. She also chose a very body positive approach casting models of all colors, shapes and sizes.

3. Priscavera

Priscavera is a New York based brand that has been earning a place in the fashionista’s closets since 2015. This collection was defined by an elegant and sexy aesthetic presenting sheer garments paired with unexpected texture and colors.

4. Jevon Terance

This season was his second time to show in New York, but Jevon is dreaming big and rightfully so. With a few Paris Fashion Weeks under his belt, his ambitions are to grow here in the US while drawing inspiration from his favorite place of all, Japan. From mix of textures to unexpected patterns Jevon proves he is one to look out for in the nearest future.
