As you might have seen on my Instagram, Andy, baby Kai and I took a day trip to the beloved wine country, Napa Valley, California. It is one of our favorite places to visit and always will be. Napa is one of those magical places you build wonderful memories at, whether you are driving through for a day or spending a long weekend. It is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy its offerings. Those of us who live in The Bay Area or Sacramento Valley are especially lucky to have it just a short hour drive away.
I used Donapa to plan out the trip this time around. I needed to plan a little extra as we were traveling with our six-month-old. There is a Light Art Festival going on right now which is a great attraction for all visitors. It made our evening stroll so enjoyable and festive.
We stayed at the Embassy Suites in downtown Napa. The proximity to everything is ideal. It is close enough to downtown, yet accessible to our favorite wineries and of course shopping. The hotel is newly renovated, offering well-designed rooms and high-end amenities.
If you are ever traveling with kids to Napa and planning to wine taste, check if the winery you are visiting allows children in their tasting rooms though. Not everyone does, but there are plenty of phenomenal wineries to choose from. Our new favorite is Laird winery, with such a gorgeous setting and very family friendly. The views and their delicious wines will make this a top destination for us when in Napa.
Napa is a culinary capital with so many amazing restaurants to choose from. We started out with drinks at La Taberna, which is a sister restaurant to our dinner destination, Zuzu. If you are into authentic Spanish tapas, this place is to die for. I do not remember the last time us enjoying every single bite on the table. We are already thinking of another visit to downtown so we can dine there again. Another one of our favorite place to dine is Bistro Don Giovanni’s, such an iconic place with yummy Italian food. We try to visit every time we are in town. Andy is still talking about those gnocchis.
Napa downtown is perfect for a walk with a stroller. In the morning we strolled along the river, enjoying the architecture and fresh air. At night we took in the light festival and Holiday fixtures.
It ended up being such a cozy, and relaxing getaway, from winning and dining at two speical restaurants, to wine tasting, to strolling the streets of downtown Napa. We can not wait to come back.
We all can understand the recovery for the wine country will take many years however Napa’s spirit and strength is apparent. Its many wonderful attractions are there for us all to enjoy today. So go ahead and plan your next visit to Napa soon.
